StitchWitch Classes - Module One

StitchWitch Module One is a comprehensive course that teaches you to sew with stretch knit fabrics. Over five weeks we teach many different techniques on a demonstration basis. In each lesson we demonstrate how to make a garment that best illustrates the content of the lesson. A basic sewing skill set is essential to successfully understand and complete Module One.

For first time sewists StitchWitch Ready Steady Sew is the ideal course to learn basic sewing techniques before embarking on Module One.

Course Structure

Classes are presented once a week on a demonstration basis. Additional hands on classes can be booked at an extra cost for one on one tuition and hands on sewing.

Course Content

Week 1

• Setting up for sewing
• Measuring, tracing and cutting out
• Rules for sewing on stretch fabric
• T-shirt with trimmed neck edge and calculations for trim lengths
• Pressing knits

Week 2

• Skirt with pleats and add on waistband
• Hemming options for all garments
• Twin needling
• Stretch binding as another option for finishing off neck edges

Week 3

• Tracksuit top with crossover V-neck, rib trimmed sleeves and basque
• Measuring for a perfectly fitting pair of pants
• Fold over waistbands with two step elasticising.

Week 4

• V-neck top with mitred V-neck
• Neck edge trim ratios
• Cuff options
• Cardigan trims with boxed in edges

Week 5

• Panties with lace insertions
• Elasticising with lingerie elastic
• Camisole with rouleau straps
• Slip with mitred lace corners

Course Fees

R2950.00 for tuition, includes a manual and five patterns. You will need to purchase fabric and sewing supplies each week to complete your homework task.
