StitchWitch Classes - Ready Steady Sew

StitchWitch Ready Steady Sew is where your sewing skill set begins. In this course we introduce good sewing habits, sewing organization and learning about haberdashery and fabrics. You will learn to sew straight, understand patterns and also learn the basics of sewing machines and machine stitches. In the classes you will make a bag and a sleepshirt. There is a lot of content in this course and it sets the path for a successful sewing journey.

Classes are presented once a week for four weeks on an interactive basis. Students complete all set projects in class,

Week 1

• Setting up for sewing
• Tools of the trade
• Learning about patterns
• Learning about fabric
• Creating a small pattern
• Cutting out and marking

Week 2

• Learning about the sewing machine
• Different stitches
• Stitching templates
• Stitching a small bag.
• Pressing and finishing off

Week 3

• Measuring yourself and selecting pattern sizes
• Tracing patterns
• Laying out a pattern
• Using a rotary cutter

Week 4

• Reading pattern instructions
• Sewing and completing a knit fabric sleepshirt

Course Fees

R2950.00 for tuition, includes a manual, a box containing essential sewing supplies and a pattern. You will need to bring a sewing machine and thread to class.
